O SCALE KINGS
(OSKers)
PURPOSE
- The promotion of O Scale to other
modelers in the model railroad community in other scales
and 3 rail.
- The promotion of O Scale to the public
who might be ready to become a model railroader, but have
not yet made a scale decision.
- The promotion of O Scale to the
manufacturers, giving them direct access to information
on what products that the O Scale community wants to buy.
In return giving the O Scale manufacturers a direct
access to their already existing market.
- Promote SCALE. Three-Railers and P48
modelers are welcome. However the concentration of the
organization is to promote SCALE 2 RAIL MODEL RAILROADING.
BUSINESS
- Incorporated as a non-profit
organization.
- Dues will be $10 per year for
individuals.
- There is a sustaining membership for
business or anyone who wishes to contribute additional
money to the organization of $25 or more.
- O Scale News and O Scale Trains will be our
publications of choice, however we may publish our own
newsletter.
- O Gauge Railroading and
Classic Toy Trains will be notified about our
organization and will be sent copies of our newsletters.
- We can establish a "Charter"
member file for those who join within the first year. We
can also offer "Charter" members a "lifetime"
dues fee, regardless of how many times dues for other
members is increased over the years.
- The O Scale National Convention will
be our convention, and we will have a business meeting at
that convention. We will in no way try to change the way
in which the convention site is selected, hosted, or
planned, but the organization will offer any assistance
that is requested.
- At the Atlanta, GA convention, we can
have our first organization meeting and make a decision
about what our goals will be for our charter year.
- Members can attend the convention without
being an OSKer, and they can attend our OSKers meeting,
but they cannot vote on issues unless they join.
- Charter member benefits can be
discussed at the first business meeting in Atlanta. You
can join now by sending $10 with your application to our
treasurer Rod Miller, or you can join at the Atlanta
convention.
GOALS
- We will purchase booth(s) at the NMRA,
York (TCA), Chicago Model and Hobby Show, Brass Expo, and
other shows for the promotion of O Scale.
- Small O Scale Manufacturers can
display at these booths, promoting their products. (These
are manufacturer members that cannot afford their own
booths, or only have a small portion of their manufacture
in O Scale.)
- We already have a website started by
Jay Beckham. This website will give this information
about 2 rail O Scale, as well as information about member
manufacturers (links) and information about our
convention and how to join the OSKers.
- Printing of flyers to pass out to the
general public. These flyers would tell a little about O
Scale, and the differences between us and other scales (or
3 Rail) and promote the many manufacturers who make
products for O Scale.
- Gather and print a booklet of all O
scale manufactures with address, phone numbers &
email, and description of their products. We might also
sell advertising in this catalog. This would be a hard
copy of our website for those not on line.
- Inform hobby shops that deal in other
scales (or 3 Rail) the advantages of stocking O Scale.
- Promotion of new item suggestions to
the O Scale manufactures, and manufactures of other scale
projects to also produce them for O Scale.
- Coordination, promotion and
cooperation with the 3 rail people to make things better
for all.
- Video Tape for O Scale Primer to
distribute to show sponsors, retailers, etc
- Video Tape for O Scale Promotional
layouts for sale to anyone.
- Written Primer to sell….very much
like the O Gauge Primer.
- Database for all O Scale modelers with
mailing list available to any member.
